Approximately four score and seven days ago DC's brought forth unto Elkhart a new pizza, conceived in quality, and dedicated to the proposition that all pizzas are not created equal. Now we are engaged in a great flavor war, testing whether that pizza, or any pizza, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final testing place for those who here gave their opinions that that pizza might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this pizzeria. The brave men, picked up or delivered, who have eaten here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. Elkhart will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the owners, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who have eaten here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored customers we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these customers shall not have become patrons in vain—that this pizza, under God, shall have a new birth of flavor—and that pizza of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from Elkhart.
DC's Pizza is owned by Darren "DC" Cornell. Born and raised in the suburbs of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Darren is the oldest of six children raised by his father, Darren, Sr., who has owned and operated pizza restaurants since Darren was little. Helping his dad in every venture, Darren learned the pizza business and decided he was ready to serve the world his own recipes and style of cooking. Darren's extensive knowledge from multiple pizza restaurant chains and travels across the US have given him insight into what people are looking for - not just good pizza, but great pizza.
Today, at DC's Pizza, Darren's recipes can be found in his signature pizza sauce, with just the right amount of flavor without being too strong or too thin. Finally, Darren has applied his marketing genius to every aspect of DC's Pizza, pouring his heart and mind into creating the best deals for our customers and spreading the word to every corner of Elkhart.
Co-managing the restaurant with Darren, Becca Reese also hails from Michigan. Born near Lake Michigan, Becca grew up in a small farming community. She brings over 10 years of accounting and general business knowledge to our team. Becca can usually be found smiling and making pizza and sandwiches while directing staff and occasionally delivering DC's great products.
